Siamo un gruppo consistente di tifosi del Genoa CFC 1893 con sede in UK.
In questi giorni siamo venuti a conoscenza dell’offerta di acquisire il Genoa CFC 1893, la più antica squadra di football italiana, da parte di una cordata di alcune imprese guidata da voi.
Siamo felici e fieri di questo Vostro interessamento!
Sappiamo che Lei è l’attuale proprietario del Leeds, gloriosa squadra britannica e che ha dimostrato grande competenza nel mondo del calcio.
Il nostro Club ha radici in comune con il Leeds in quanto i nostri fondatori sono stati gentiluomini inglesi.
Durante la sua lunga storia, il Genoa ha vinto il campionato italiano 9 volte. Il suo primo titolo fu vinto nel campionato inaugurale nel 1898 ed il più recente fu conquistato nel 1923-24. Il Genoa ha anche vinto una Coppa Italia nel 1936-37.
Attualmente il Genoa sta giocando in serie A da 14 stagioni sotto la gestione di Enrico Preziosi, giocando alcune partite anche nella Europa League. Ciononostante negli ultimi 4 anni ha sempre rischiato di retrocedere, salvandosi anche all’ultima giornata di campionato.
Ci aspettiamo da un nuovo management un approccio totalmente diverso da quello attuale e pertanto salutiamo con gioia una passione rinnovata nei confronti della ns squadra ed il suo glorioso passato, in modo che si possa rivitalizzare la fede del popolo rossoblu.
I tifosi del Genoa, con la passione, amore e capacità organizzative della loro Gradinata Nord sono sempre stati riconosciuti in Italia ed all’estero; ad esempio i tifosi del Barcellona sono stati aiutati in passato da tifosi esperti del Genoa per la realizzazione delle loro coreografie, realizzando gli stessi effetti di quelle nello stadio “Luigi Ferraris” in Via Giovanni De Pra (strada che porta il nome di un famoso giocatore del Genoa).
Siamo convinti che acquisire il Genoa porti a benefici economici per le seguenti ragioni:
- Il Genoa è nella 7° posizione come numero di abbonati (media di 18.000 abbonati all’anno); è attualmente in 10° posizione come diritti TV
- Il turismo nella città di Genova è in crescita; Genova ha il Centro Storico più grande d’Europa e beneficia della presenza della Riviera e delle colline dietro Genova, con splendidi scorci panoramici; Genova è famosa per l’arte, la storia, il cibo, i musei (compreso quello del Genoa CFC!) e ha un grande Acquario che ha attratto migliaia di visitatori negli anni.
I tifosi del Genoa non pretendono di vincere il campionato italiano ma sperano che un nuovo presidente metta in atto una strategia per far crescere il club progressivamente nel tempo.
C’è una seconda squadra a Genova e i tifosi del Genoa CFC sarebbero più che contenti se si riuscisse a ottenere e mantenere il primato cittadino; crediamo che ciò sia possibile con un nuovo presidente che abbia la giusta attitudine, acume per il business, ambizioso e passionale.
Il sogno di generazioni di genoani nelle decadi passate è sempre stato vincere il decimo “scudetto” con il quale potersi fregiare della “Stella” istituita dalla FIGC (privilegio concesso finora soltanto a Juventus, Inter e Milan).
Vincendo uno scudetto, inoltre, il Genoa sarebbe la prima squadra italiana ad aver vinto un campionato italiano in 3 diversi secoli: 1800 – 1900 e 2000!
I tifosi del Genoa UK sono felici per l’interesse che avete mostrato nella nostra squadra e vi pregano di perseverare nelle trattative con l’attuale presidente, cercando di superare le ovvie difficoltà che tali importanti operazioni implicano, incluso il recente atteggiamento di disimpegno dell’attuale dirigenza nei confronti dello sviluppo del Genoa CFC.

Dear Sir,
We are a large group of Genoa CFC 1893 supporters based in the United Kingdom.
We have recently learnt that you made an offer for the acquisition of Genoa CFC 1893, the oldest Italian football team; this offer came from a group of companies linked to you.
We are grateful and proud of your interest in our football club!
We are aware that you are the owner of Leeds, a glorious British team, and that you have shown great competence in the world of football. Our football club share the same roots as Leeds because our founders were Englishmen.
During its long history Genoa CFC have won 9 leagues, the first being in the inaugural football tournament in 1898 and the latest being in 1923-24. Genoa CFC also won the Italian Cup trophy in 1936-37.
Our football club have been competing in Serie A for the past fourteen years under Enrico Preziosi’s ownership, also playing some matches in the UEFA Europa League. Nonetheless over the past four years Genoa CFC have repeatedly fought against relegation, often struggling all the way up to the very last match.
Going forward we would hope and expect at long last a totally different approach from a new Chairman and we would welcome a renewed passion towards the team and its glorious past so as to revive Genoa CFC supporters’ faith.
Genoa CFC fans, with their passion, love and famous choreographies on the stands have always been acknowledged as great supporters all around Italy and the world and attracted a lot of interest e.g. Barcelona supporters were helped in their own stands by expert Genoa fans to recreate the same effect of our choregraphies in our stadium “Luigi Ferraris” (named after a Genoa CFC player), located in Via Giovanni De Prà (street named after a Genoa CFC player).
We strongly believe that acquiring Genoa CFC would be beneficial and financially sound as per the reasons outlined below:
Genoa CFC are ranked 7th in fans’ attendance with an average of 18,000 season ticket holders per year plus weekly ticket holders. And this is impressive despite poor results over the past few years. Furthermore Genoa CFC are currently ranked 10th for TV rights revenues.
Tourism in the city of Genoa is growing; Genoa has the largest historic centre in Europe, a long stretch of beautiful riviera all along the ligurian coast, and great hills with outstanding views. Genoa is famous for all its art, food, history, museums (included Genoa CFC museum!) and has a great Acquarium that has attracted thousands of visitors over the years.
The supporters do not expect to win the league but hope that a new chairman will have a long-term strategy in order to allow the club to grow progressively over time.
There is a second team in Genoa and Genoa CFC supporters would be more than happy to just be consistently better than them. We believe that this can be achieved if a new chairman were to show the right attitude, business acumen, passion, and ambition.
The ‘dream’ of generations of Genoa supporters over many decades has been to finally win the tenth scudetto, with which we would be awarded by the Italian Football Federation the historic “Star” on our jersey, which is a privilege only three teams (Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan) have had so far. By winning a scudetto this would be the third century in which we come top of the tournament, and that could never be matched by any team.
Genoa Supporters UK welcome and praise the interest you have shown in our team and would like to invite you to persevere in the talks with the current chairman, trying to overcome the obvious difficulties that such important operations involve, included the dismissive attitude displayed recently by the owner of Genoa CFC.
